Pond Life

I was at my Dad’s house in Portugal, which had a huge pond outside it. On the sides of the pond were little canopies in which small frogs shaded under very small palm leaves. In the waters, the tadpoles swam, all producing multiple layers of depth, as things got smaller and smaller, a bit like the pond scene in the Japanese Studio Ghibli animation ‘Naoshika’. George Lucus was filming there, as the basis for the start of his latest epic. that would explore the battles of The Force from the microscopic world up.

Somehow, one of the actors in the film was an exact double of me, perhaps another member of a ‘group personality’. He had lived in India all his life and we were spiritual twins. It was reassuring yet unnerving at the same time, to know that there is ‘another me’ in the world.

Then my father came in. Apparently, he had been told to stop smoking by his doctor, but was given some new herbal concoction to smoke. He stood by the wall near the pond, rolling up a joint of it.
